A few weeks ago it was tough to say because it was February, but it felt like spring had sprung! It was so gorgeous outside yet our actual outside area was a bit sad. Our plants were dead, there were dead leaves everywhere and weeds galore. It wasn’t pretty. So I decided not only to get a few more hanging plants, put our hammock back up, rearrange our furniture, but most importantly, plant some HERBS!
This was my first time growing something so mind you, it was a process when I got to home depot. First I picked out the herbs that I was feeling. I started simple with mint, cilantro, basil, chives and parsley. Then, I figured that instead of trying to plant these suckers in the ground…because who knows what’s down there…I got some cute little pots and saucers for them to go on. I was then able to track down one of the associates because soil is a whole other issue that I wasn’t aware of. He directed me towards some fancy potting soil that is (fingers crossed) going to keep my favorite little greens alive for six months.
When I got home, I put on my new gardening gloves and started getting dirty. Truly…dirty…planting things is no clean feat! Basically, I put each of the little guys into their respective pots and then voila! It was so great! I’m still managing the watering portion of all of this, but I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to be able to have some fresh herbs right in my own back yard. If you have any tips about growing herbs or veggies let me know! I can use all the help I can get.
